Sneak peak: uberVU dashboard

Posted in Sneak peak

We are getting close to our private beta. But until the unveiling of our product here is a preview of uberVU for all the people who are asking for screenshots.

Ladies and gentlemen, I present you the uberVU dashboard, your welcome page each time you log in. Click for a larger image.

uberVU dashboard

Here is where you will see 2 important areas:

  • A space for all your recent activities: your latest blog posts, pictures or videos. Doesn’t matter where you published them, from within our app or other tools. Synchronization baby!
  • Your comments from all your platforms. No need to check up your Wordpress admin 2 times a day, your YouTube account etc. You have them all in your dashboard. More time for you to work …. or do other stuff :)

Of course you can add some new stuff right from this page or search for your archived items.
What do you think?

A short experiment in people search

Spock vs 123PeopleBesides speaking about our shinny app we will use this blog to review applications and/or services that we consider to be in some way connected to what we are trying to achieve with uberVU. We will review apps that deal with semantic web, vertical search, open API’s etc.

This week let’s talk about people search! It is a hot topic for us since uberVU will soon integrate social networking data and we work on a way to match profiles among different social platforms. And people search seems to be a good way to achieve that. For my experiment I chose 2 apps: Spock and 123 People. Spock is the creation of Jaideep Singh and Jay Bhatti, two engineers from IBM and Microsoft. Spock got a lot of attention from the press in 2007 and was nominated among Top 10 Web Start-ups by Wired magazine. 123 People, on the other hand, is an Austrian-based start-up backed by i5invest fund. So …. let’s start rolling the ball.

uberVU: New Name, New Perspective

Posted in News

ubervu - logo mic.pngSome of you might know this project as 2puffs. We recently decided to change the name of the project. But why would someone do that with a project that has not even been launched yet?

The reasons are simple. We really liked 2puffs. The way it sounds, the concept around it. Smoke signals was a great concept to work with. It expressed what we are doing pretty well. There was just one problem. Besides the reference to smoke signals, it also means something in slang. And it means something really offensive to some people.

We are sorry if we offended anyone with this name, that was not our intention. That’s why we decided to change the name.

The project is now called uberVU. We picked this name because it depicts what our project does. We are offering a super-overview, a super-panorama of all your content on the web. Of course, that’s just a small part. You can also post to the Web and have conversations. But the name can also include references to that.

We’re really happy with this new uber-name. The logo is also pretty sweet. Tell us if you like it and also tell your friends that their favorite new project has a new name, but it keeps its old promises :)
