Why you’re not getting uberVU invites

Posted in News

A lot of you guys have been asking for invites. We think that’s simply awesome and honestly appreciate your interest. Unfortunately, we haven’t been sending as many invites as we would have liked. It’s not nice to keep people waiting and I know some of you have been waiting for a couple of months already.

We appologize for this and would like to explain the situation.

Right now you can import your data from some services, post to those services, see the reactions and even post your own comments from uberVU. It all sounds great and it actually is. But there’s a catch.

Right now, you have to SYNC your data manually. That means that if you want to see the responses your content gets, you have to press the “Synchronize” button and wait for us to get the responses. That might not seem like a problem, but it is if you have hundreds or thousands of posts, because you’ll have to wait quite a while. If you don’t press Synchronize, you won’t see any new responses.

We’re working on an automatic synchronizer/crawler that will get your responses in the background so that whenever you log into uberVU, your data is up to date. However, this will take another month or so, as it’s more complicated than we first thought it would be.

When the syncher is done, we’ll send invites to all you guys so you can use uberVU. In the mean time, if you really want to use uberVU and sync the content yourself, send an e-mail at hello@ubervu.com asking for an invite and we’ll gladly give you one.

Thanks for understanding.

We’ve added Twitter and Facebook!!!

Posted in News

It’s been a busy week for us. We’ve worked out the Distributed Conversation architecture that we’ll be working on throughout the summer, we’ve been preparing for the Semantic Web Course we’re giving at the Politehnica Computer Science University in Bucharest next week and we’ve prepared to welcome two new members in our team. Busy times indeed.

But we’ve also prepared something cool for you guys. Starting today, you can automatically notify you friends on Twitter and Facebook when you post a piece of content with uberVU. How does this work?

1. You add Twitter and Facebook as channels

2. You just tell uberVU that you want your statuses updated. uberVU will automatically insert the content title as the status

3. You change the status messages if you like

4. uberVU appends the link to the status automatically, so your friends can click through to your recently published masterpiece

Go ahead and give it a try!

Post comments straight from uberVU

Posted in Expression, News

We’ve done it! Starting today, you can post comments directly from uberVU. How does this work?

  • You add a service to uberVU, such as Blogger or Picasa.
  • We get your content, and you can also post
  • You can see all the reactions that your content gets on the platforms where it’s posted
  • You can then reply directly from uberVU. The comment gets sent to the appropriate service. (If you got a comment on Flickr, your reply will go to Flickr)

We’re really happy about this, as it is a turning point from uberVU. uberVU has taken the first step towards becoming a CONVERSATIONAL PLATFORM. We’re not just a publishing/management platform anymore.

It might seem little at first, but it’s just the first step. We’ve started moving in this direction and we hope we’re on to some great things. You’ll get to experience some over the summer hopefully.

For now, log in to uberVU and give the commenting a try. Feedback highly appreciated.

It’s finally here: uberVU Private Beta 2

Posted in News

We’ve been working our asses off for the past 2 months to bring you the Private Beta 2. Well, it’s finally here. We’ve worked on some major improvements over the last version.

Basically, in Private Beta 2 you can:

  • Get your content from, edit it and also publish it on: Wordpress, Blogger, MovableType, TypePad, Flickr, Picasa, YouTube, Vimeo
  • Integrate videos and whole photo galleries from Flickr/Picasa right into your blog posts. uberVU will automatically display galleries for you. You just select the photos to display in the gallery and we do the rest
  • Post an item once and have it displayed on multiple services
  • See all the responses/reactions your content gets on all the services you posted it to

Under the hood we have a much faster sync system and we’re working with OAuth for the authentication/authorization part. This means uberVU is faster and we also don’t store your passwords. If you have a Flickr account, for example, you give Flickr your password and authorize uberVU from inside Flickr. No password whatsoever gets to us. Major improvement!

The best part is that this is only the beginning. In the coming months we plan the following features:

  • Posting comments from inside uberVU. You’ll see the reactions your content gets on all the services you posted it to, and you’ll be able to reply to those comments right from inside uberVU
  • Updating your status on Facebook and Twitter
  • Publishing your conversations to your public uberVU page

We’re also thinking about creating uberVU.org, which will be an open conversational platform based on semantic standards, such as SIOC and FOAF. But more on this intriguing idea later on. For now, we’re just happy we could get you more features that you can play with in Private Beta 2. We’re very, very excited about this.

So, what can you do to help out? It’s easy. Just test out uberVU, send invites to your friends and write us a review if you like using it. Also, don’t be shy and send us your feedback and suggestions to our cool GetSatisfaction account. We love GetSatisfaction and we’re sure you will too.

Looking forward to seeing you inside uberVU!
