Last week, as the national debt topped $12 trillion for the first time in U.S. history, one influential policymaker said, “I think it is important, though, to recognize if we keep on adding to the debt … that at some point, people could lose confidence in the U.S. economy in a way that could actually lead to a double-dip recession.”
This analysis was delivered by President Barack Obama, on whose watch “red ink as far as the eye can see” has become the status quo.

No I will vote for the conservative. I do not care what party they are from as long as they beleave in the US constitution, a balanced budget, paying down the national debt, etc…. It its unlikely that I will find those attributes in a Democrat but an Independent will do just fine by me. Sorry if it seemed I was disagreeing with everything, I just wanted to point out that people want to blame Bush for everything(and believe me, I had problems with some of what he did). True, the president signs the bill, but Congress has the ability to pare down anything that he sends(he just makes the budget). Good article, Mr. Boehner, I give you credit for bringing your skin out there in the market, so to speak. The truth really is we are all in it together. The citizens and GOPs have all learned their lessons. We need a bigger platform and should welcome everyone who has ideas and actions to contribute. Keep fighting for what is right!

I'm sorry, but, some of the spittle spewed rude and blatantly ignorant remarks on this board are as nauseating and as ignorant as Code Pink's rantings on the other side of the spectrum.
Sure, remove every sitting member of congress, fat chance, and, yep, teach the Republicans a lesson by not voting for any of them anymore, a gift to the Democrats, and, by all means, in the most

Laffer said the crisis over the dollar is already here and that we must have a sea change in 2012 with some relief in 2010. You do realize that growth in the public sector has a net neutral effect on the overall economy in the intermediate and long run. Every dollar spent within the public sector has to be supplied by the private sector. The government does not produce anything (and if it does, it is causing monetary inflation).

If you read Keynesian economics you also understand that we should be running at a surplus during times of economic prosperity and not running up debt to the level we have.
I should also note that Keynesian economics were tried during the Great Depression and really did almost nothing to pull us out of it. It wasn't until World War II that we saw real economic growth. There is no proof that

Same old song and dance. Old story new year. Responsible people and businesses run deficits at times.

Then cut federal spending starting with all congressional pork barrel spending. The remaining $500 billion in the stimulus bill is mainly pork to help democrats in 2010.

There were republican that supported the expansion of the SCHIP program and the prescription drug program two major expansions of the federal government. SCHIP was expanded to offer benefits to illegals as well as to increase the max salary and max age of individuals allowed in the program. For a program designed to help poor children is seems to have exceeded the boundaries of common sense.
