I think I need therapy.
I just took my son for his 4-year checkup, which included his three required immunization shots that nobody had the courtesy to warn me about. I, naively, thought it was just one, so you can imagine my surprise (and his) when the nurse informed us it ...

Sara –
My heart ached when I read your story. I’m so sorry you had such a traumatic experience with your son’s immunizations.
Has he had trouble with vaccines in the past? Here is some great information on how to ease the pain of the vaccines from a trusted source – http://www.chop.edu/service/vaccine-education-center/vaccine-schedule/lessening-the-pain-of-vaccines...

Having been a nurse for over 20 years, and in an ER for 13 of those, and raised 5 kids, I can really relate to this. I’ve spent quite a bit of time on both sides of this situation. First of all, we have to realize that kids are not stupid. Approach is the first thing: “holding him down” is a signal for hysteria. I agree with Kimberly. Our kids receive their vaccinations, not a barrage at once, but no more than two shots at a time. I don’t believe vaccinations are the cause of autism. I think our labeling kids as autistic or on the spectrum of autism is probably occuring at a more frequent rate now (more awareness of the condition is most likely the reason for this). As an elementary school teacher, I’ve ... See all content

I am sure the writer gave plenty of thought to if she shoud have her child immunized or not. She obviously made the decision to do it. I struggle with the to immunize or not, to get the flu shot or not, to take my sick kid to the doctor’s office or not, to send them to

Just a little FYI, you don’t have to get the shots as ‘recommended’ . We certainly don’t. Rest assured, my son receives his all of his vax, but on MY schedule. No more than 2 at a time and 1 on each leg so that we know if there is a reaction to one of them. If that means we have to make a couple extra trips to the dr for shot-only visits, I’m ok with that. It’s for ... See all content

Not to be alarmist, but the CDC just (finally) released their most recent numbers on autism. It now stands at 1 in 100 children, and approximately 1 in 60 boys. Since there’s no such thing as a “genetic epidemic”, something in the environment of today’s American children is likely responsible for this explosive rise. Many doctors, healthcare professionals, and parents of vaccine-damaged ... See all content
