Councilwoman Karen Bennett sent an email to constituents this afternoon claiming a last-minute Inglewood community meeting on the proposed convention center was not what she agreed to attend weeks ago.

A message was posted on the Inglewood neighborhood listserv today stating,

“Dear neighbors, there will be a meeting on The Music City Convention Center at Las Maracas, 2704 Gallatin Pike, at 6:00 pm. Terry Clements from the Nashville Convention Center has a 15 min PowerPoint ...

An after-hours meeting in a restaurant? Eh, what’s the big deal. Are Gaylord and the opponents of the Music City Center now trying to argue that citizens can’t meet with their government officials? Does Gaylord have a problem with that?

Not supposed to be a public meeting? Then what kind of meeting was it supposed to be between the taxpayer-funded Terry Clements, the Council lady and the proponents? Were they trying to make a backroom deal and a bunch of people with real questions showed up as witnesses? Why are we having private meetings on the biggest, most expensive project in the city’s history? Come on Ana and Ego,, fess ... See all content

Neighbors told me there was a lot of confusion about why the opponents showed up. It was obviously not meant to be a public meeting.

Mostly, they huddled in a booth. Then Kevin Sharp asked some questions.

They also said that Craddock made childish faces and showed his butt.

I also heard from the meeting. Ms. Hunter and CouncilLady Bennett both told the attendees that it was supposed to be a private meeting, but it was mistakenly put on a list serve.

The opponents looked silly showing up, and they were too sheepish to make statements.

Is there anyone more self-important than Mike Jameson?

Precisley, it was not supposed to be a public meeting. I hear a few weeks back a Diane Hunter called Councillady Bennett and asked for a meeting to discuss the convention center. Hunter told Bennett that it would also include a couple of Ms Hunter’s friends.

Bennett agreed after saying that she had scheduled a public meeting for January.

I have just heard back from the meeting

Something doesn’t add up. Who would hold a public meeting in a small restaurant that doesn’t have a meeting space.

Is someone trying to stir up trouble?

Well, it really is all connected. Word comes that Charlie Williams and employee of the Mayor orchestrated this entire event (the ambush of council lady Karen Bennett)..

Shame, shame of the Mayor’s office. It seems that they’ll stop at nothing to get what they want.

Pro Convention Ctr 'community meeting' bait-n-switch tactics: http://bit.ly/18y8pC It's not the first time either. Make it the last mayor.
