I did wonder about your contribution when I found out about Movember... ;-)
I hear what you're saying re. being bizarre enough to attract attention - perhaps if more focus was on celebrity women having serious make-up jobs to wear moustaches, for instance - that might attract the mainstream press as well as any current media campaign the site is running?

Erm... I wear a mustache anyway and a beard too. Well, what do you know, I've been promoting men's health for more than 6 years now.
Seriously though, with efforts like these, you must strike a balance. The token gesture must be small enough to become popular but also bizarre enough to attract attention. This particular choice doesn't seem all that inspired to me.
