The 13 Greatest Game Show Hosts | Gunaxin Media

Source: http://media.gunaxin.com/

A few years ago, the Game Show made a huge come back in the misguided forms of such flashes-in-the-pan as, Who Wants to Be a Millionaire, The Weakest Link and even Dog Eat Dog. But lets face it, no Game Shows now-a-days (see: The Power of Ten or Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader) can even hold a candle to the programs of yore *SIGH*. You can catch many of these that no longer air on the Game Show Network, or, you can obviously watch Wheel of Fortune and Jeopardy every single night on CBS. But still ...

Any list of the best Game Show hosts that doesn't have Guy Smiley is invalid, in my eyes, but here you go: http://bit.ly/31dWBr

I’ll tell you where they are. Not on HIS list. He can stop at 13 if he wishes. Know why? Only one reason why. It’s HIS list.

Besides Monty Hall, Bill Cullen, and Marc Summers, who else should have been on this list...

Tom Kennedy (Name That Tune, Break the Bank, Body Language, Whew!, Wordplay)

Allen Ludden (Password)

Jim Perry (Card Sharks, Sale of the Century) - did Card Sharks MUCH better than Bob Eubanks

Geoff Edwards (Treasure Hunt, Chain Reaction, Starcade)

ALLEN LUDDEN, you illiterate twat.

A list of 13 can only include 13 names, you whining weenies.

Make your own bloody lists if you’re just game show scholars.

Bet it’ll suck worse that the one above.

No Groucho Marx? Never heard of “You Bet Your Life”? The game show hosts from Britain are much better as well. Check out “8 out of 10 Cats”, “Mock the Week”, “Never Mind the Buzzcocks” and “Have I got News for You” for example.

My guess is that unless you regularly watch the GSN, most diggers wouldn't know most of these due to the age genre. Richard Dawson was creepy but funny.

Bill Cullen (widely cited as the greatest game show host of all time) didn't even make the list. Nor did Dick Clark, Monty Hall or Groucho Marx. (There are others that I would have included, but those four should have been no-brainers.)

No one who didn't host an American game show is included (despite no mention of this being a U.S.-specific list).

Note that the article's author has corrected the "Wolery" typo and added "(in many markets)" to the CBS claim. The latter remains incorrect, as the programs don't air on the CBS network in *any* market; the statement should simply refer to syndication.

A CBS network program is one that is transmitted via the CBS network to most or all of its stations nationwide. I noted above that the syndicated "Jeopardy!" and "Wheel of Fortune" most likely air on a CBS station in the author's market (just as they do in yours), but they are *not* parts of the CBS network and should *not* be referred to as airing "on CBS."
