Dear Verizon: This is not funny

Oh, Verizon, I bet you think you’re real cute right now. Running an ad about the Island of Misfit Toys, and saying iPhone belongs there because of the crappy AT&T network. Worse yet, you’ve baited the idiots at AT&T into filing a lawsuit to stop the ads, as John Paschzhshqkchwowski reports on AllThingsD.

We told AT&T not to do this. We told them, Don’t take the bait. Let’s say you can force Verizon to take down the ad. By then everyone will have seen ...

Borgtards like masterofhtejwan just can't get enough of you, Steve. They are drawn to you like moths around a flame. Your brilliance, of course, zaps them every time and we all hear the little "snap" as they disintegrate and fall to the bottom of the bug zapper cage. But there are millions of them and only one of you. I would be honored to be the one that empties the cage where the remains of zapped ... See all content

But in this case there’s a complicating factor, which is this: They won’t tell me which three posts they’re talking about. I’ve asked. They say they’re not ready to disclose that and that in fact there may be more than three, but the three they’ve mentioned are just the first ones they’ve spotted in a cursory search. My sense is they’re not really upset about any particular posts,

Nobody with any sense is leaving iPhone dev. On Android nobody pays for anything. Even if they get marketshare up to iPhone levels you can make a better buck on iPhone. Apple have done a lot of work to make it a paying market. Only fools are leaving in disgust because they don't like playing Apple's game. It's a simple game, Apple made a market, they also made the rules. And the rules aren't that bad ... See all content

ONE GUY left iPhone development? I think we can all say MISSION ACCOMPLISHED, right Mr. Bush?

4 months ago by Eric Shidt on Disqus

Did you fail reading comprehension in middle school? This guy CHOSE to quit iphone development:

"And, as you'd expect, our man is not mincing his words, stating that his "decision to stop iPhone development has had everything to do with Apple's policies," and that he's "philosophically opposed to the existence of their review process.""

Here's another link from tech crunch.

That really isn't what that article says at all. It says that this guy got moved off of the iPhone FB app project and it got handed to another dev. Perhaps the guy could be bitter he is not lead on FB's biggest mobile app?

@techdirt : @fsjblog indirectly cites the "Streisand Effect" w.r.t. to the $VZ vs $T misfit toys commercial http://bit.ly/2P6Kcv

The Droid Eris is an HTC phone. They're not plugging Motorola's phone in this ad. It can get a little confusing when Verizon refers to the line of Android phones as Droid phones and one of those phones is actually named the Motorola DROID. Maybe the caps lock differentiates it?

Plus side, Mr. Jobs, Verizon does seem to think the iPhone is an impressive piece of hardware. Can you pretty please

The thing that stuck out most at me from that ad is that it seems like Verizon is saying the Droid is by HTC, which it isn't. It's by Motorola.

If that's how Verizon treats phone manufacturers, I can see why they don't get many new phones.

And so it begins. Developers are dumping the iphone due to apple's nazi policies. With android phones flooding the market it's their natural tendency to switch to the open platform. Soon we will see android apps skyrocket, better apps that come to market faster and can do more. I feel like it's the 80s
