I didn’t give praise to China’s environmental achievements. Certainly the Middle Kingdom has a wealth of environmental issues. Just ask the traffic cops in Beijing who have a life expectancy of less than 50 years. And it ain’t because they’re getting hit by cars. With regard to mercury contamination in water from the burning of fossil fuels, I’d like to remind you of a study that was concluded a few years back. It traced the source of mercury in the streams of the Pacific Northwest back to electrical power plants in China. The growth rate of power plants in China is huge, supplying the electrical needs of a major industrialized country that manufactures much of the worlds goods.

With the above in mind, I’d be leary about giving praise to China’s environmental achievements. Just look at the satellite pictures of the pollution clouds rolling out of China if your interested. ... See all content Hide content

I have only one question. Why does anybody think that mankind can alter any climate change at this point? We may be contributing to mother natures natural cyle in the atmosphere but we would need to wipe out most of the humans on this planet to have any affect and even then it would take hundreds of years. Maybe the next world war will test this theory.
