Ebs, As a patient I can not imagine how concierge med could ever work. Do doctors propose patients pay an access fee to every type of doctor they might need to visit for every family member? Simply put every thing is so specialized it would require multiple access fees for multiple types of specialist. Some areas my family has personally needed in the last five years are orthopedics, pediatrics, internal med, ob, genetic testing, transplant, surgical, and dermatology providers. I am sure there are more that are just not immediately coming to mind. The average middle class person simply does not have the means to pay an access fee to cover all possible areas.
