An important distinction, true. We all have examples where what Uncle Sam wants doesn’t line up with personal expectations. I suppose, as all have indicated, it really depends on what you want. If your goal is to get HITECH incentives and/or line-up with that mandate, I’d say the MU matix is a good baseline. Even if that’s not your goal, it gives a good reference point for those simply needing a place to start or a comparison for those who already have their own criteria outlined. ... Interesting thoughts, Paul. To continue your response John, would such a framework tie-in to all the reporting mechanicism described in Stage 1 meaningful use? That would seem to to be a giant pool of information that will (hopefully, eventually) provide an insight into the EHR market.
This conversation reminds me of the old writer’s adage, “Show, don’t tell.” I expanded
a little more on my thoughts over at the blog (http://www.occampm.com/blog/hitech/an-ehr-in-the-hit-haystack/).

My approach is start with a matrix that checks off the MUST Haves,
Wouldn’t that be what the NPRM does with its meaningful use matrix?

I can sometimes be obsessive and this post and some of the comments have still been eating at me. (Don’t worry Matt when I say obsessive I don’t mean I’m going to be sending you fingernail clippings or locks of hair) I don’t expect to impart some infinite wisdom that will knock some sense into a few select people so I am mostly doing this to shut my brain up! In fact I usually
resist the urge to say anything since I know for some people it is the same thing as encouragement. So I apologize if this renews any of those commentators. In fact if you don’t post this I’ll understand.
I don’t think it’s admirable to “choose” to live the rest of your life without a partner after a spouse has died. I think it’s admirable to live your life on your own terms and with an open heart so I admire Matt for that.
You don’t replace people, to suggest that Brooke is a replacement is incredibly stupid and shows a real lack of understanding about relationships.
It wasn’t insensitive of Matt to include the pictures of Brooke, it helped complete the picture of the happiness he was talking about. It is written all over the faces of Maddy and Brooke and for anyone to wish to deny any of them that is just cruel, ignorant and selfish. And the selfishness really baffles me, who stands to gain anything by Matt living the rest of his new life married to a memory? Even one as awesome and beautiful as the one he shared with Liz.
Lots of people have spoken much more eloquently than I just did and I could carry on even further but inevitably I will start babbling so I will shut up now and hopefully my brain will too!

If you’ve read this blog for any time you know that I’m an enormous fan of CCHIT (that was in the sarcasm font in case you couldn’t tell).
Hmm, I couldn’t tell. Let me examine your css … On the serious side, while the new rules and certification process are designed to be vendor and organization independent, CCHIT is hardly out of the picture and is likely to become an accredited
certifying body once those guidelines are released. To paraphrase “The Princess Bride,” perhaps CCHIT is only mostly “irrelevant.”

*blushes at compliment* Ahem, agreed that the process has certainly been moved out of the CCHIT arena and into the ONC’s. Time alone will tell how effective the new certification process is, especially once someone actually starts handing out the stimulus golden tickets. Looking forwrad to finally seeing the testing process BAH is working on.

I’ve watched the reality show Monica Still Standing. During the episode where they kept saying they weren’t sure if this would be a hit, I wanted to jump thru that TV and say, “yes it would be”. I wanted to buy it right then and there. I’m looking for this song right now. I love it! Thank you Monica for being true to who you are. I love you. I can’t wait till March to buy the CD. ... Excellent introduction to a series I’m interested in reading more about. Perhaps the biggest shock I got from reading various reports of HIMSS was the number of outfits claiming to be certified, when as David so aptly pointed out, no one can possibly claim that distiniction yet. The amount of false confidence out there makes one very nervous as to how violent reactions will be in 2011 if and when these people are let down. ... See all content Hide content
