@slumdogbrother: i believe that the issue is much deeper than any of us realize. I think that what has happened will take all of us to look deep within our souls to find something. not sure what that something is. but i am sure that God is doing something to help us reconcile it.
thanks for the twitter follow and hope to converse with you more.

Hey Michael, I think you have interesting points on this situation. As an author I’m sure that you have experiences that none of us “amateur” writers would and I’m glad that your weighing in on this discussion. Here are a few of my questions to your post and yes I did read the book and I’ve Mike Foster a few times and laughed endlessly at his jokes.
-You make
a parallel between the marketing of DVCA and the cover of your book, “Sexy Girls”. I would like to state that a picture of a girl’s chest might be scandalous to other Christians, the new marketing scheme of dvca was offensive to an entire culture. There’s a huge difference in making Christian wives feel that a book cover is dirty or sinful and a video that makes a culture feel disgraced, shamed, and dishonored. Could you clarify how these two are the same?
-Nobody, Soong-Chan Rah, Eugene Cho, countless Asian American bloggers, ever said that the content of DVCA was sinful, bad, disrespectful, or not God honoring. In fact, the private conversations going on in the backdrops between those individuals have been about how DVCA can be re-birthed. This has never been about an “Asian Man’s Agenda”. It has been about how to carefully navigate through the great content of the book and letting that speak for itself without the co-opting, caricature, and stereotyping of an entire culture. Can you tell me how the professor is not wanting men to care about integrity and character?
-Can you tell me how your point on making a book about homeless individuals and the way they read the New Testament Narrative is in anyways comparable to Mike and Jud’s marketing scheme for dvca? Will you make a video as a homeless man and do faux sound effects? Will you disgrace and dishonor the very people that your trying to serve?
Just some of my thoughts. Thanks for weighing in on the conversation once again.

Jan, the outcome came not because of the blogs but because of the lack of wisdom that Mike and Jud used for their marketing scheme. The outcome is real and true but this is not the end of DVCA.
I am very proud of the way that Mike and Jud responded to this conversation. They did teach all of us how to listen, think, and respond in a godly way. I hope that this teaches us to think of all our
Christian brothers and sisters, not only the ones whose skin color reflects ours, when we make Christian material that is intended for the greater church.

Elder J, great thoughts for us to consider. Hopefully, it won’t only be the minorities who are considering this but the White Evangelicals. It seems to me that whenever we minorities talk about race, that the MAN gets upset and starts pulling out a “get out of race card”.
I do hope that people who put on Passion 2010 will care more than the white suburban teenager and how
they (white people) can go and save the (minority) filled world.

Professor Rah, Thanks for the update in what is going on. I also want to applaud you for being open about how your sorry for how some of the things you’ve done, said, and written. I really appreciate you for showing us that in the end it’s not about being right, it’s about being called to a higher standard.
Prayers and Peace,
di

Tony, your points are very well thought out and deep. My thoughts on “Men Against Twilight” are ridiculous, foolish, and manly. I like this very much.
